My Pitch Thursday 29th March 2012

My Two mood boards taken in to my pitch to show my tutors the work i have done to show i have explored the pros and con's of my two ideas.

                                                                                     Theme- Me, Myself and I.

                                                                                       IDEA 1- Reflections

For my FMP I had two ideas, my first one is reflections and the way photographs or object reflect time. For example if its a black photography it shows that its been taken a long time ago. Or if I look in a mirror I would see myself which is a reflection of myself.

The idea above does seem to have much potential as I am a very creative, hands on person so the techniques and media's I would use it doesn't seem to be a good suitable idea.

                                                                                           IDEA 1-
   Memories

For my FMP my second idea is memories, Memories is a very vast area to experiment with a variety of different. As i have lots photos from past memories which I can use in work. Also memories isn't just photographys, it could be a very blurry and not very clear deem.

  A memory could be something such as christmas over several years which is for the same celebration but only remember parts of each one, so as you remember them they blend in to one.

You could have a emotional such as happy sad grumpy disheartening memory which is memory you remember not for the good for the worst, which has hurt you for life, which you cant forget, being traumatisted by something.

These two idea will help me to decide wether to do memories or reflection, but my pitch will help me get other peoples input and which they think would be the ideal one for me. The one I can benefit more from.

Thursday 29th March 2012

     I was going to my pitch today as there was only a few of us left and i wanted to do mine before the holidays. My pitch is to discuss the process in how i have got to my two ideas and then decide which of my ideas to take forward to use for my Final Major Project. My theme is Me, Myself and I, then my to ideas are; Memories or Reflections.

Monday 26th March 2012

    The tutors are starting to do the pitches, I wasn't ready to go in for my pitch just yet so i prepared myself for my pitch i sorted out all my book and made sure i know what i was saying in my pitch first. I was ready for my pitch so i just waited for a chance to go in, in the mean time i worked on photoshop playing with effects on photos trying to improve photos which i could take to my pitch or to develop after my pitch for my chosen idea.

Sunday 25th March 2012

      I have been preparing for my pitch the week commencing the 26th March 2012. In my book i have shown, and said my first idea was too big so what i did it used that a theme and then chose two sub-heading in my theme, which is Me, Myself and I.
      I have done a spiced up annotation page to make it more interesting to a viewer. Another idea i had which i could bring in to work at a later stage is, if I wanted to do a big drawing or painting, I could transfer an image from a camera to a computer which I would like to draw or paint. Then show the image on an over head projector, sticky tape a piece of paper to the wall and you have the image enlarge showing on your paper which makes your painting easier. Then begin.

Friday 23nd March 2012

An idea i had was to made a mood board with a collage of several photos of my memories, then get some big sponge lettering or stencils to right over the top of the collage of what the memory was. I could use this idea later on in my work, but at the moment i have it in mind to use if i want to.

An artist i was advised to look at from a friend is Kevin Wilson a photographer all about his dreams.

Thursday 22th March 2012

      In my spare i decided to ask a friend what they thought of when i mentioned reflections to them. They didn't come up with a lot but what they did come up with was all the simple all day things which are around us.

Wednesday 21st March 2012

      I was inspired by a pass students work in her book and how she made annotation more exciting, also so its a change from plain white pages. So I used an old used Primark paper bag to make a plain coloured collage then applied paint with a pallet knife, for a unique way of applying paint.
     These are all ideas from feedback and moving forward on developing my ideas which I had.  So Know my two ideas are; the theme is Me, Myself and I. within my theme i have two ideas:
-Memories
-Reflections
So know i am going to research future in to my two ideas, to get the best out of them I need to know the whole range before deciding which one to chose for my FMP.

     I was thinking of the obvious things i can experientment with, within Memories or Reflections, before taking them both forward as my two finalised ideas. I go the two ideas from my theme, to make my subject smaller.

Tuesday 20th March 2012

           We all went in to our pathway groups, the four pathway groups consist off: Textiles; Fine Art; Graphics and 3D, sculpture. So i went into the textiles pathway group and I'm going to bring photography into my work. We began by looking at past years books and good the standard needs to be and what sort of pieces of work has been done in the past just to give us some vague ideas.
    Then I went away a little bit unsure whether i had picked two good ideas but I didn't let pass work put me off too much, so i reflected on my ideas and thought how i could develop my ideas.
    From looking at past work it gave me some ideas;
-Getting a picture of anything then put it in to a shape of a butterfly or animal which i like, so it makes the picture more interesting to view, but adapt it to soot the theme which i am doing.
Then I may use the idea in my work at a later stage.

Tuesday 13th March 2012

       After discussing with my pathway tutor about what I have in mind and what feedback she had for me. So after that i started to think of two different ideas I could take forward, to explore in more detail so I can narrow down or make a decision on one idea then start experimenting with different medias and see how i could process with my chosen idea. My first idea is;
Me, Myself and I, as the theme then things we can incorporate in it;
-Textiles
-Grids, Layers and Reflections
-How i see myself
-Express myself through pictures and objects and not by speech;

My Second Idea is;
still using Me, Myself and I as a subject but;
- Photography
- Reflections
- How other people see me as a person
- Get feedback then express it by putting it in visual form using material and colours.
Then from there, see were the final idea develop from and into.

Monday 5th March 2012

      I have moved forward from Unit 5 and 6, the Grids, Layers and Reflections, to my Final Major Project. I am going to use Grids, layers and reflections to start me off on my FMP, but bring in a theme or something to do with me. In units 5 and 6 I experimented with layers, by printing on top of each other action shoots of me horse jumping, to try and show movement through a 2d object. It didn't work as well as it could of done, so if i was bringing it in to my work later on i will find better ways of layering the photos. So i have decided I'm going to take Grids, Layers and Reflections through to my FMP and use myself as a theme. I think it an easy subject to work with but could do so much with its still variety and potential within.
     I had a lecture on the information for unit 7, I then went away with a positive attitude and more understanding of what is needed in my unit 7. I started to research and take notes of anything which came in to my head that was relevant. Some artists i found who was relevant to my work or i was inspired by are: Henry Matisse- very simple. outdoors good defined line quality.
       Franc Marc- Paint applied thickly and very big brush strokes.
       August Macke- Paint applied very freely
Textile Artists;
       Henry Moore- wallpaper design some ideas on what pattern and sequence's are in wallpapers.
      Shirley Craven- a fabric designer etc.
      Celia Birtwell- furniture covering etc
      Zandra Rhodes- Quilt Covering etc
      William Morris- wallpaper designer
Photography artists;
      Anna Gaskell- seen primary research at Liverpool Tate, Alice in Wonderland exhibition.
      Eadweard Muybridge- amazing action shot photographer, showing movement in stages.

      Using the artists; Franz Marc and August Macke, I will use the free and expressive big brush stroke and incorporate it in to my own work. So i am going to paint myself with bright eye catching colours, so Ive put my own twist on artists work which influence me, to make it more unique.
